Our Union members belong to the American Federation of State,County and Municipal Employees also known as AFSCME. We are members of Local 1491. There are app 88 members in the Union to date. Thomas F. Stokes 83 of Johnston died on June 7 2007. He was the husband of the late Theresa (Piscione) Stokes. Thomas was a letter carrier for 33 years. He was the son of the late Thomas and Margaret Stokes. He leaves behind three daughters, Donna L. Pari , Colleen S. Stokes and Laurie aRusso. He also leaves behind seven grandchildren. He was the father of the late Arlene Stokes.
Laurie aRusso is a Union member of Local 1491 AFSCME.
The funeral was held at Robins funeral home on Saturday the 10th. He was buried with Military honors at Highland Memorial Park in Johnston.
In lieu of flowers the family asks donationsto be made to Hospice of RI,169 George St Pawtucket RI.
Our local has made a Fifty dollar donation in Mr. Stokes name.
Our sympathy goes out to Laurie and her family.
May he rest in peace.

Alycia Bedrosian, the daughter of Union member Kathy Bedrosian has won the Regional Talent America contests. Alycia won the Adult Female Solo category. She will be going onto the National level. The nationals will be held in Brooklyn New York from July 13 - 15th.
Alycia ,must receive donations from sponsors in order to supply the cost of the trip and all other expenses. Anyone wishing to make donations may contact Kathy Bedrosian at 401-231-4210 for instructions.
Our Local will be making a Fifty dollar donation to her.
